Beta Kappa Initiates 31 new brothers!
Beta Kappa initiated 31 New Brothers into the Chapter this last weekend!  Bob Jones, Grand Consul, Lee Beauchamp, Former GC, Garnett Haubelt, Grand Praetor and BK Alum, and over 100 other BK alumni were present for the event and luncheon.  At the luncheon, Haubelt presented the Chapter with a stand containing a brick from the ORIGINAL chapter house of the Alpha Chapter of Sigma Chi in Miami, OH (the building was dated around 1844, according to GC Bob Jones)!!  In addition, Bob Jones presented the Chairman of the Alumni Supervisory Committee, Bob Williams, with a Grand Consul Citation at the luncheon!  That is the 3rd Grand Consul Citation BK has received in the last seven months (the other two went to Chapter Advisor Jason Dixon, and the Chapter as whole)!

Beta Kappa recieves FIRST EVER Grand Consul Citation for an orginization.

Beta Kappa hosted Grand Consul Bob Jones, Grand Pro Consul Wayne Tucker and Grand Praetor Garnett Haubelt for formal dinner where Grand Consul Bob Jones awarded the chapter with the first ever grand consul citation for an orginization.  The Grand Consul Citation is the only award the Grand Consul can distribute without anyone else's approval and is usually reserved for individuals that have demonstrated great service to the Fraternity.  However, given the recent efforts of the active Brothers and Alumni of Beta Kappa, he felt the award deserving for an orginization.  The Chapter was deeply honored by this award.

Beta Kappa signs 50+ pledges during fall 2007 Rush.

Last fall there was no sign of Sigma Chi on the campus of The University of Oklahoma.  The Chapter house was virtually vacant, there were no membership meetings and the fraternity did not participate in rush.  This Fall the scene is quite different.  After an extensive membership review, and many improvements into the Chapter house itself, the chapter is once again active and the 74 man chapter house once again has residents.  Michael McMichael has lead an incredible rush effort, recruiting 50 or more pledges to the chapters member recruitment program.  McMichael, a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences, has proved to be a great asset to the Chapter.  He along with all the members of the Chapter and Alumni Members have worked very hard to get to this point.  Of the new pledge class he said "It's these guys who are going to be taking over, These guys are absolutely vital."      Sigma Chi Grand Pro Consul Wayne Tucker was on hand for Bid Day.  "I was incredibly impressed by our Brothers and all the alumni of the Chapter. They have worked hard to rebuild the Chapter and it was an exciting evening. The house looked great, the alumni were present and the guys in the chapter were really seeking the best and the brightest on campus to extend bids to."   Beta Kappa has many hurdles to overcome over the next few years, but with commitment to living the core values of Sigma Chi, the chapter is guaranteed success.  “Building a strong chapter is essential to our success” said IV McNamara, Vice President of the Housing Corporation.   “Communicating with our alumni is absolutely critical.  We are constantly trying to gather accurate contact records, all Sigma Chi’s can update their contact info at Sigmachi.org, or the can e-mail us.”  Alumni interested in getting regular news about the chapter and wanting to know how they can help should e-mail the house corporation at OUSIGALUMNI@gmail.com
